A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug trafficking after fleeing from police and crashing a vehicle in Hallowell.

The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said Ryan Benoit was pulled over in a BMW on Water Street after a disturbance.
Sped Away from police at 105 MPH
He drove away from officers and fled from police at 105 mph.
Lost Control of BMW and Crashed into Stump
Benoit was going close to 100 mph when he lost control of the car, left the road and crashed into a stump.
Fled on Foot Following Crash and Arrested
He left the car on foot and ran from police. He was apprehended shortly after in another car and taken into custody.

Backpack Located Near Crash Scene
A backpack was found near the crash site that matched another bag in the BMW.

Police seized from the bag 2 pounds of cocaine, 120 grams of crack cocaine and 282 grams of fentanyl.

Benoit was charged with aggravated drug trafficking, eluding an officer, driving to endanger, operating a vehicle without a license, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and speeding: 30+ mph over the speed limit.
