Body Recovered from Lake after Boat Fuel Ignited in Maine

A man died Tuesday and his body was recovered from Little Sebago Lake near Outlet Cove Road.

Body Floating Face Down

The Windham Police Department said “a male body found floating face down” in the water around 4:16 pm.

Brought to Shore and Pronounced Dead

First responders brought the body to shore and started lifesaving efforts. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boat Fuel Vapors Ignited

Police said the man had been fueling his boat on the dock and vapers ignited.

Man Jumped or Fell into Water

“It is believed the male either jumped or fell into the water during the incident. His condition at the time of entering the water remains unknown,” said Windham PD.

Official Cause of Death

The official cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
