Mother Nature has blessed us with some early snow this year, unfortunately the ground in the woods and swamp areas have not completely frozen up yet. Most projects are going to hold off a little longer until the ground freezes up and a little more snow. Most of the clubs are saying that they don’t have a lot of signs up and are asking riders to use extreme caution as there are hazards in the open areas.

Some of the projects that have rail beds in there system might go out for the weekend if the temperature drops below freezing.

There have been some reroutes that need mentioning, trail 73 to Eagle Lake has changes follow the new signage. Fort Fairfield has some changes in town look for signs. Trail 100 that connects to trail 89 North of Madawaska stream will be groomed on a limited basis, but nonetheless it will be open this year. Cold Mountain club also has some changes look for signs when they are up and grooming. The major reroute that Mars Hill had last year will still be in effect for this coming year.

The Homestead Lodge in Oxbow is under new ownership this year and they will have gas and longer hours for the restaurant with a full menu. Dean’s in Portage is also under new ownership, with full service gas and a snack bar for your convenience.

Has anyone been out on the trails yet? Tell us about it!
