Aroostook County Power Outages due to Fallen Tree
Emera Maine said a fallen tree against a transmission line feeding the region caused the large scale power outage in Aroostook County Tuesday evening.
24,000 people were impacted around 5 PM when power went out for close to an hour Tuesday evening. A majority of people had service back by 7 PM after system operators re-routed circuits.
The Caribou area had around 2,600 customers without power as of 9 PM Tuesday night. Emera Maine estimated to have that issue resolved by 11 PM Tuesday.
Emera Maine reminds you to use caution when it comes to power lines, generators and its utility crew:
The public is reminded to never touch a downed power line or a tree in contact with a downed line.
Motorists are urged to slow down or move over and change lanes, when possible, if approaching utility crews working on roadways.
Customers who use generators or alternate heating sources are reminded to ensure they are used in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines at all times.
