48-Year-Old Man Arrested on Murder Charges in Maine
A 48-year-old man was arrested Friday and charged with depraved indifference murder after the death of a 51-year-old woman in Bridgton on November 25, 2023.
Maine Man Arrested for “Suspicious Death”
The Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team arrested Eric Knight without incident at his Pond Road home in Bridgton Saturday morning.
51-Year-Old Woman Died
Knight was indicted by a grand jury Friday for the “suspicious death” of 51-year-old Benita Preo of Bridgton.
Man and Woman were in a Relationship
“Preo and Knight were in a relationship and lived together at the Pond Road residence,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Death Ruled a Homicide
Preo’s death was ruled a homicide by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta on November 26, 2023.
Three Month Investigation
“State Police Detectives investigated over the next three months and the case was presented to a Cumberland County Grand Jury,” said Moss.
Bail Set at $500,000
Knight was taken to the Cumberland County Jail. His bail is $500,000.
