A 23-year-old man died after he fell off a boat and was hit by the propeller in South Harpswell.

Man Died after being Hit by Boat’s Propeller

Samuel Sharpe was driving a 19-foot boat when he fell into the water and was stuck by the boat’s propeller, said WGME News.

Witnesses Brought him to Shore

Police said witnesses pulled him out of the water and brought him to shore at Potts Landing.

Pronounced Dead at the Scene

Emergency crews from Harpswell Fire and Rescue performed life-saving measures. Sharpe died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Body Taken to Local Funeral Home

Sharpe’s body was taken to a local funeral home. He will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Coast Guard Secured Boat

The boat was secured by the U.S. Coast Guard and brought to shore by the Harpswell Harbormaster.
