
19-Year-Old Man Critically Injured after Dirt Bike Crash in Maine
A 19-year-old man was critically injured Thursday night after a dirt bike crash in Lewiston.
Dirt Bike Ran Red Light
The Lewiston Police Department said Damonte Powell was riding a dirt bike on Sabattus Street around 10:22 pm when he ran a red light and crashed with a sedan.
19-Year-Old in Critically Injured
Powell was in critical condition and taken to Central Maine Medical Center, and then flown by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The driver in the sedan was not injured.
Speed and Distraction
The dirt bike was “not equipped to operate on a public way,” said Lewiston PD. “Speed, driver distraction, and failure to yield were contributing factors to the crash.”
