
Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 30-year-old man was sentenced to five years in prison for drug trafficking in Maine.
Sentenced to 60 Months in Jail
Alexis De Leon from the Dominican Republic was given 60 months by U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann. He pleaded guilty to the charges on March 11, 2025.
Charged with Fentanyl Trafficking Conspiracy
De Leon was charged for his role in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy from Massachusetts to Maine.
Kilograms of Fentanyl Transported and Distributed
“De Leon and coconspirators worked together to transport kilograms of fentanyl from Massachusetts to Maine for distribution,” according to the United States Attorney's Office.
Social Media Used for Drug Trafficking in Maine
Officials said a Facebook account under “Leon Leon” was used along with other social media to contact co-conspirators and customers for drug distribution in Maine.
DEA Monitored Facebook Page and Gathered Evidence
The United States Drug Enforcement Agency gathered evidence that De Leon was running the “Leon Leon” Facebook page. Agents monitored the social media as part of the investigation.
Large Quantity of Fentanyl Seized During Traffic Stop
De Leon was pulled over for a traffic stop in June, 2024 as he traveled to Bangor. He was in possession of a large amount of fentanyl.
Other Co-Conspirators Awaiting Sentencing
“The court found that De Leon was responsible for distributing over 20 kilograms of fentanyl in Maine. Co-defendants Ramon De Leon and Mandi Ford have also pleaded guilty in this case and are pending sentencing,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Lead Investigators in the Dug Trafficking Case
Agencies involved in the investigation included the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Maine State Police.
