A woman and two children were seriously injured Sunday afternoon after a crash on the Moosehead Trail Road in Dixmont.
Woman and Two Children Seriously Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said “the vehicle had crossed the oncoming travel lane before leaving the roadway striking several trees.”
Female Driver Trapped in Vehicle with Serious Injuries
The adult woman driver was trapped in the vehicle. First responders extricated her from the vehicle. She had serious injuries and was flown by LifeFlight of Maine to an area hospital.
Two Young Children Seriously Injured
“Two young children were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both received serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital,“ said the Sheriff’s Office.
Cause of Crash Under Investigation
Officials said the cause of the crash was under investigation.

Assisting Deputies with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office was the Carmel, Plymouth, and Dixmont Fire Departments. LifeFlight of Maine and Northern Light Ambulances provide medical services.
