Two Maine Men Arrested for Murder
Bangor Police arrested two men on Wednesday for the murder of a man who was found by firefighters in his home last month.
Fifty-nine-year-old Berton Conley was found unconscious in his kitchen on November 1st after fire crews were called to the home on Essex Street. Conley was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he passed away.
Police say they have charged 30-year-old Joseph Johnson of Old Town and 39-year-old Cote Choneska of Veazie with Conley's murder. The two men were taken to the Penobscot County Jail and are expected to appear in court on Friday.
WABI reports that in 1997, Choneska shot a Clifton store owner six times during a robbery that left the man paralyzed. He was released from prison in 2012 after serving 16 years for that crime.
