Thousands Still Without Power in New Brunswick After Ice Storm
NB Power reports about 59,000 customers were still without electricity Friday morning, two days after an ice storm knocked down trees and branches and power lines in many parts of the province.
Utility crews have been dispatched to hundreds of areas and are repairing damage as quickly and safely as possible.
NB Power says it hopes to have 99% of its customers in Bouctouche, Moncton, Sackville, Shediac and Sussex restored by the end of the day Friday. Hundreds of households in Miramichi and Tracadie might not get power back until the weekend. Many schools in eastern New Brunswick remain closed.
About 165 customers are affected by outages in Carleton County as of 8:30 Friday morning.
