
Man Faces 20 Years for Crossing Border with Drugs in Maine
A 31-year-old man pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering into the United States from Canada and importing a controlled substance.
Tried to Cross U.S. and Canada Border on ATV
Nathan Paul Curran-McQuade from Canada attempted to illegally enter the United States on an ATV in September 2021. He was stopped in Caswell by Border Patrol Agents.
Meth and Marijuana Seized
Curran-McQuade had 14 grams of methamphetamine on his person as well as marijuana in a mason jar in his backpack, said court records.
Told Border Patrol Drugs were for Personal Use
He said he was going to a store in Caswell to get gas and the drugs were for personal use.
Faces More than 20 Years
Curran-McQuade faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million for the controlled substance charge. He also faces up to 180 days in jail and up to a $5,000 fine for crossing the border illegally.
