Several People Injured after Monster Truck Crash in Maine
Several people were injured Saturday during a Monster Truck show after one of the vehicles hit a jump, struck a utility line and pulled down utility poles at the Topsham Fairgrounds.
Multiple People Injured after Monster Truck Crash
The Topsham Police Department said the trucks were racing on the horse track that had been set up with moguls. The incident happened around 1:58 pm.
Monster Truck Hit Utility Wire after Jump and Pulled Poles Down
One of the trucks went over a jump and hit an aerial utility wire above the track. The wire got caught in the truck and several utility poles were pulled down. One of the poles was near the spectators viewing area.
One Person had Injuries from Utility Pole
One person was injured after being hit with equipment from the utility pole. That person was taken to Maine Medical Center.
Second Person Injured and Taken to the Hospital
Another person was injured and transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. Several more people with minor injuries were treated at the scene.
Driver not Injured
The driver was not injured. Names and ages were not released.
Power Cut Off for Hours
Power to the area was cut off for several hours as safety personnel evacuated people from the area.
Ongoing Investigation
The crash investigation is ongoing.
