Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said agents intercepted Linscott as he was delivering suspected Fentanyl to a customer in a parking lot of the Hannaford Store. Officers seized several grams of suspected Fentanyl, packaging materials, scales and $1000 in suspected drug proceeds, McCausland said.

For the past two months, agents have been investigating Linscott and others associated with him for selling Heroin, Fentanyl and Cocaine throughout Cumberland County. Drug agents also recently conducted several undercover purchases of drugs from Linscott.

Linscott was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Fentanyl, two counts of Trafficking in Fentanyl & Cocaine and Unlawful Possession of suspected Fentanyl. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where bail was set at $50,000 cash.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.

Linscott served 22 years with the Maine State Police and retired in November of 2010.
