West District RCMP are continuing to look for a 43-year-old man in connection with a kidnapping that occurred on October 5. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Gilbert Thériault, of Drummond Local Service District.

According to police, Thériault has been charged with using a firearm to kidnap the victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the victim's dog and extortion. The 62-year-old male victim made it to safety and suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Thériault is described as 5'6" tall and approximately 120 lbs. He has a tattoo of an eagle on his right bicep. Anyone who recognizes Thériault is advised not to approach him and call 9-1-1, said police.

The second suspect in connection with the incident, a 37-year-old man, originally from Nova Scotia, was located and arrested in Halifax on October 8. Parker Jacob Richards was charged on October 8 with using a firearm to kidnap the victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the victim's dog, extortion and possession of a firearm while prohibited. Richards appeared in Grand Falls Provincial Court on October 13. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear back in court on November 17, said police.
