One man died and another man was in critical condition after they were both hit by a train in Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday morning.

Four Men Near the Train Tracks

Old Orchard Police said four men were sitting on the train platform on First Street around 10:51 am when the train came through. Two of the men were not injured.

Alcohol believed to be Factor

Police said they believe alcohol was a factor.

Screaming and Fighting before Crash

Witnesses told officers they heard screaming and men were fighting near the tracks before the crash.

Traffic Blocked by Train

The cargo train stopped after the crash and remained on the track for hours. Traffic was blocked and rerouted.

Charges and Crash under Investigation

Police have not released any charges in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
