New Brunswick Man Sentenced For Richmond Corner Murder
A New Brunswick man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an elderly Woodstock-area woman last October.
The sentence was handed down Thursday in Court of Queen’s Bench in Woodstock.
Earlier this month, 20-year-old Kyle Edmund Scott pleaded guilty to killing 82-year-old Sarah Kennedy at her home in Richmond Corner. Scott had gone to Kennedy's house on October 5 to ask for tools to fix an all-terrain vehicle which had apparently broken down nearby.
Crown prosecutors recounted details of the murder in the Woodstock courtroom Thursday, saying Scott used a hammer and a knife to commit the brutal crime.
Correctional Service Canada will decide where Scott serves his sentence. He will not be eligible for parole for at least 15 years.
