Man Sentenced for Accessing Child Sexual Abuse Material in Maine
A 46-year-old man was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for accessing child sexual abuse material.
30 Months in Prison
Wade Willette from Cornville was given 30 months and five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in October 2024.
FBI Online Covert Employee
Court records said in August 2020, Willette used a Kik messenger app to respond to a post on an online bulletin board known to be frequented by people with a sexual interest in children and/or child pornography.” An FBI online covert employee (OCE) had made the post.
Uploaded Videos
In January 2022, Willette’s account uploaded three videos containing child sexual abuse material. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children had received a cyber tip from the messenger app.
Search Warrant
In March 2023, a search warrant was executed at Willette’s residence.
Admitted Crimes to FBI Agents
“He confirmed that the Kik account was his, that he had searched for and viewed child sexual abuse material on his phone, and that he had engaged in online conversations about child pornography in the past. Two images of young children being sexually abused were recovered from his phone,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
