Kevin Minnie from Ellsworth died at the scene around 6:44 am on Wednesday.

Hit Two Cars

The Maine State Police said Minnie “had been involved in two separate crashes in the moments leading up to his death.”

Rear-Ended Truck and Injured Driver

Minnie had been driving fast when he rear-ended a pickup truck, causing it to rollover and crash off the road. The driver was seriously injured.

Crashed into Second Car

Minnie then drove in the opposite lane of traffic and collided with the rear side of another vehicle. The driver was not injured.

Excited Vehicle and was Acting Erratically

Minnie got out of his vehicle after the second crash. He “began acting erratically striking and jumping on several vehicles that had stopped at the scene,” said the Maine State Police.

Hit by Dump Truck

Minnie ran towards the rear tire of a commercial dump truck and was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Having a Mental Health Crisis

“Investigators believe Minnie was experiencing a mental health crisis that contributed to his behavior. The crash remains under investigation,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
