A 28 year-old man died from gunshot wounds Wednesday and police are ruling his death a homicide in Palmyra.

Died by Gunshot Wounds

The Maine State Police said Jaquan Humphries of Mattapan, Massachusetts was found dead at a residence at 531 Madawaska Road around 1:33 am.

Body Found in Home

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office located his body inside the home where he was living.

Investigators on the Scene

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Response Technicians were on the scene collecting evidence.

Death Ruled Homicide

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta did an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

No Threat to the Public

“At this time, there is no known danger to the public. The investigation remains ongoing,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
