
Man Crashed Stolen SUV into Utility Pole During Chase in Maine
A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning and charged after a high speed police chase and crash into a utility pole in Poland, Maine.
Driver Sped Away from Deputies at High Rate of Speed
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said Isaiah Strong-Gassama from Warren was speeding on Main Street when Deputies tried to pull him over. He did not comply and fled at a high rate of speed.
Lost Control of the SUV and Struck a Utility Pole
During the pursuit, Strong-Gassama lost control of the SUV on Poland Corner Road and left the road. He hit and broke a utility pole and ended up in a wooded area.
Suspect Fled on Foot After Crash
The suspect fled the scene on foot. He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Man had Minor Injuries and Taken to the Hospital
He had minor injuries and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center. He was released and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail and booked.
SUV was Stolen from Dealership
The SUV he was driving turned up to be stolen from a car dealership.

Suspect Faces Several Charges Including Theft and Driving to Endanger
Strong-Gassama was charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, Operating Without a License, Operating After License Suspension (Habitual Offender), Failing to Stop for an Officer, Driving to Endanger and False Attachment of Registration.

Multiple Agencies Responded to the Scene
Assisting at the scene was Poland Fire-Rescue, the Mechanic Falls Police Department and a K9 unit from both the Maine Warden Service and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
