Man Arrested after Trooper Hit & Stopped Vehicle on I-95 in Maine
A 75-year-old man was arrested for Criminal OUI Tuesday after driving the wrong way on I-95 in Aroostook County and a Trooper hit him to stop his vehicle.
Wrong-Way Driver on I-95 Arrested
James Burch of Freeport was taken into custody and charged with Criminal OUI, Aggravated Driving to Endanger, and Passing a Roadblock.
Driver Almost Hit Police Cruiser
The Maine State Police said Trooper Noah Castonguay tried to stop Burch in the Oakfield area on the Interstate around 12 am. Burch did not stop and Castonguay had to swerve to avoid a collision.
Trooper Hit Vehicle to Stop It
“To address the imminent risk, Trooper Castonguay used his cruiser to strike the passenger side of the vehicle as it passed him in the crossover at Mile Marker 286 in Oakfield. The collision caused the operator of the vehicle to stop,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Taken to Aroostook County Jail
Burch was transported to the Aroostook County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
