Maine Man Armed With Crossbow Arrested Following 10-Hour Standoff
CHESTERVILLE, Maine (AP) — Maine police say they arrested a man armed with a crossbow and high-powered pellet gun after a 10-hour standoff at a mobile home.
Maine State Police say that 41-year-old Vance Billings was charged with aggravated criminal trespass and mischief and violating bail conditions.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland says Carthage resident Billings surrendered to state police Saturday night at a Chesterville mobile home.
Police allege Billings assaulted a man earlier Saturday and then holed up in that man's mobile home.
Police have not identified the man that Billings allegedly assaulted. That man was released from a hospital after receiving treatment.
McCausland says Billings refused to talk to police during the day.
Billings is being held at the Franklin County Jail. It wasn't immediately clear Sunday if he had a lawyer.
