A juvenile was arrested Tuesday and charged with Arson after a house fire in Oakland.

Juvenile Charged with Arson After House Fire

The fire happened on July 26 at a residence on Libby Hill Road.

Fire Marshal Investigated and Determined Fire was Intentionally Set

The Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated the scene and spoke with witnesses and determined the juvenile intentionally started the fire.

Seven People Were Sleeping in the House When the Fire was Started

“At the time of the fire, there were seven occupants sleeping inside the home. Working smoke alarms alerted an occupant to the fire allowing everyone to escape without injuries,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Firefighters Suppressed the Fire and Contained Damage to a Bedroom & Hallway

The Oakland Fire Department suppressed the fire quickly and contained most of the damage to one bedroom and a hallway on the second floor.

Juvenile Transported to Youth Development Facility and Held

The juvenile was taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Facility in South Portland and held.
