Fugitive Arrested for Death of 22-Month-Old Toddler in Maine
A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges of Manslaughter after the death of a 22-month-old toddler in Thomaston.
Man Arrested for Manslaughter
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit executed a warrant for the arrest of Aziayh Scott from Owls Head.
22-Month-Old Toddler Died at Walmart
He was arrested for the death of 22-month-old Quayshawn Wilson on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Thomaston Walmart.
Death Ruled Homicide by Blunt Force Trauma
The Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta ruled the cause of death was a homicide by blunt force trauma after an autopsy on Thursday, May 30.
Wanted Man Recently Moved to Maine
Scott is originally from Louisiana. He had recently moved to Maine and was living with his girlfriend and the child in Owls Head, said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Suspect Fled to Louisiana
Detectives investigating the case went to their residence on Owls Head on June 4 and learned Scott and his girlfriend had returned to Louisiana.
Fugitive Apprehended in New Orleans
“Maine State Police Detectives coordinated with Louisiana State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force and Scott was arrested this morning, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the city of New Orleans,” said Moss.
Extradition Back to Maine
Scott was transported to Orleans Parish Prison in New Orleans. He will be extradited back to Maine on Manslaughter charges.
