Ford Recalls Ranger & Fusion Cars For Transmission Related Issues
Ford Motor issued a recall of both Ranger & Fusion models because of a transmission issue .
The first recall is for 270,000 - 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles with 2.5-liter engines that were built at the Michigan, and Mexico plants.
The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime. If the parking brake is not applied, a shifter cable that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
In addition, Ford also recalled about 3,000 2019 Ranger pickup trucks that were built in Wayne, Michigan due to the transmission shift cable bracket in affected vehicles may not have been torqued correctly and can eventually come lose, which can cause the vehicle to shift into a different gear and the pickup can roll away and “increasing the risk of crash or injury.”
