
46-Year-Old Man Sentenced for Illegal Firearm Possession in Maine
A 46-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison for being a convicted felon with a firearm in Maine.
Sentenced to Two Years with Three Years Supervised Release
Rodney Skipper from Bowdoinham was also given three years supervised release by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr.
Pleaded Guilty to Gun Charges
Skipper pleaded guilty to the charges on September 11, 2025.
Officers Were Called to Walmart for Potential Shoplifting
He was arrested after police responded to the Brunswick Walmart for potential shoplifting, said court records.
Man was Outside Store When Police Responded
Employees directed officers to Skipper who had gone to his vehicle outside the store.
Man Seen with a Firearm in the Holster Before Police Arrived
“Officers noticed Skipper had an empty pistol holster on his hip, and were told that Skipper had been seen with a firearm in the holster before their arrival,” according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

Man was Not Allowed to Possess Firearms After Felony Conviction
He was forbidden to have a firearm after a prior felony conviction for assault.
Police Seized Three Handguns in Vehicle During Search
Skipper’s vehicle was searched and police seized a 9mm pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, and a 10mm pistol.

Arrested and Sentenced to Serve Two years
He was taken into custody and charged. He was sentenced on April 9, 2026.

Investigators and police involved in the case included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the Brunswick Police Department.
