Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Sawmill in Maine

A fire seriously damaged a sawmill at Irving Forest Products in Dixfield on Saturday afternoon.

Fire was Extensive and Contained to the Side of Building

The Dixfield Fire Company said the fire was contained to the northwest side of the building. The blaze caused extensive damage.

No Employees or Fire Crews Injured in Fire

No injuries were reported for employees at the mill or fire crews and emergency medical services.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation by the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office

The cause of the fire was not released. The Maine Fire Marshal's Office was on the scene and the case is under investigation.

Multiple departments responded to the blaze including the Rumford Fire Department, the Peru Maine Fire Department, the Mexico, Maine Fire Department, the East Dixfield Fire Department, Jay Fire Rescue, the Wilton Fire Department, the Canton Volunteer Fire Dept., the Roxbury Fire Department, the Carthage Fire Department, Oxford County Regional Communications and Med-Care Ambulance.
