Eagles Sweep, Bears Get Swept [SCORES]
A North Atlantic Conference sweep for the Husson Eagles and a UMass Lowell sweep over UMaine in America East. It's conference play time in college baseball.
GAME ONE Husson 8 Thomas 0: Eagles catcher Sam Huston clubbed two home runs, a 3-run bomb and a solo shot. Ben Holmes and Blake Slicer combined on an eight hit shutout as Husson won the NAC opener.
GAME TWO Husson 5 Thomas 2: Huston continued his torrid hitting with three doubles and a RBI. Tommy Burns pitched six innings of two run ball to get the win.
Husson is 2-0 in NAC and 7-5 overall. Thomas is 1-3 and 1-14.
The Black Bears got to start their AE play at home because the UMass Lowell Riverhawks couldn't play on their field. Nice to have the turf at Mahaney Diamond.
GAME ONE UMass Lowell 4 UMaine 3: After grabbing a 3-2 lead in the 6th inning, the Riverhawks scored twice and then held on for the win.
Tyler Schwanz had two doubles and two RBI for the Black Bears. Justin Courtney took the loss on the hill. He pitched 5.2 inning and was charged with all four runs. He struck out seven.
GAME TWO UMass Lowell 3 UMaine 0: UML pitcher Collin Duffley pitched a seven inning complete game shutout in this one. He allowed just three hits, struck out 10 and didn't walk a batter.
The Bears fall to 0-2 AE and 6-15 overall. UMass Lowell is 3-1 and 12-10.
