Caribou Man Pleads Guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm; Faces up to 10 Years in Prison
A 34-year-old man from Caribou has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. John Sam entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor on April 14, 2023.
Caribou Man Guilty of Illegally Possessing a Firearm
Sam knowingly possessed a firearm during a traffic stop in Caribou in May of 2021, according to court records. He was precluded from possessing firearms due to a 2017 robbery conviction in the state of Maine.
Facing Prison Time, Fine and Supervised Release
Sam faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000 and three years of supervised release.
Law Enforcement Investigating the Case
Agencies and police involved in the investigation include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Caribou Police Department.
