Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of church bells from Carleton County between July 16th - 24th.

The West District RCMP, Woodstock Detachment said the theft of one the bells was reported  on July 24th and is still missing. The bell was removed from the top of St. Paul's Anglican Church on Highway 540 in Kirkland, about 30 kilometers southwest of Woodstock.

Additionally, a bell was stolen from the Kirk Church in Northampton, about 18 kilometers south of Woodstock between July 23rd - 25th. The Kirk Church bell was recovered at a scrap yard in Fredericton, July 25th, said the RCMP.

A 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old man have been arrested. They have pending court dates and both have been released.
