A 7-year-old was injured Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle in a school zone crosswalk on Minot Avenue in Auburn.

Driver did not Stop for Crossing Guard

The Auburn Police Department said the crash happened around 8:29 am in front of Fairview School when a crossing guard was stopping traffic with a sign with flashing LED lights.

Crash Happened in School Zone

The driver, 29-year-old Alberto Nafoia from Lewiston, failed to stop and collided with the child in the school zone crosswalk.

Child Injured and Transported to the Hospital

“The 7-year-old pedestrian was treated on-scene for apparent minor injuries and was transported by Auburn Fire and Rescue to CMMC for further evaluation,” said Auburn PD.

Charged with Driving to Endanger

Nafoia from Lewiston was charged with Driving to Endanger and was issued a traffic citation for Operator Failing to Obey Crossing Guard.
