A 20-year-old man died after a police chase and crash into a rock wall and utility pole in Woolwich.
Police Chase and Fatal Crash
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said Kaleb Halsey from Bowdoinham died early Wednesday morning after the crash on Route 128 Tuesday night.
Accelerated and Fled Police
Deputies said Halsey was speeding and driving erratically around 10 pm. They tried to stop him, but he sped away and fled police.

He passed a vehicle that pulled over for the pursuit. Halsey “lost control of the vehicle going off the road to the left, striking a granite fence post, continuing into a ditch before striking a telephone pole,” said Deputies.
Driver Ejected from Vehicle
He was ejected from the Hyundai Sonata and seriously injured. Halsey was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he passed away.
Chase Lasted 27 Seconds before Crash
The Sheriff’s Office said “the pursuit lasted 27 seconds and traveled approximately one-half mile, before the crash.” The investigation is ongoing.
