According to Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, at around 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday, 63-year-old Frank Gray, Jr., of Seal Cove, Maine was operating his 2001 Ford Explorer on the Boulevard Road in Township-13 Range-14.  48-year-old Wayne Pelletier, of Fort Fairfield was operating a 2014 Western Star commercial tractor and trailer on the Blanchette Road. Gray apparently failed to stop at the intersection of the Boulevard and Blanchette Road, and struck the side of Pelletier’s trailer.

Gray’s passenger, 58-year-old Wendell Reed, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Gray and Reed were transported by a Quebec-based ambulance service to Montmagny Hospital in Quebec.  Both men suffered multiple injuries that at this time do not appear to be life threatening.  Pelletier sustained no injuries during the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office thanks several bystanders who helped the injured men and Maine Forest Rangers for assisting Deputies in getting to the scene of the crash and providing additional logistical support in this remote area.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriff Peter Johnson.
