Snow piled up in December at more than twice the normal rate across northern Maine, conjuring up memories of the all-time snowiest season of 2007-08.

According to figures from the National Weather Service Office in Caribou, a total of 44.6 inches of snow has fallen this month, which is about 2 feet above normal.
