On July 3, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of an assault that occurred at a residence in Passadumkeag on July 1.

The assault was recorded and has been shared on social media. Through the ongoing investigation the Sheriff's office learned that there were multiple people involved in this incident and they are actively working to identify them and conduct interviews, said Chief Deputy William R. Birch, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Several interviews have already been conducted and the majority of those involved are cooperating with the investigation.

The female victim in this case has been identified and interviewed. Once the investigation is completed, the Sheriff's office  will work with the District Attorney’s Office to determine appropriate charges, said Chief Deputy Birch.

Because the case remains under investigation, no other details can be released at this time.
