Woodland Dragons vs. Schenck Wolverines

The Schenck Wolverines punched their ticket to Championship Saturday after upsetting the defending regional champion Woodland Dragons Thursday in Bangor.

When the buzzer sounded, the No. 4 Wolverines came away with a 50-44 win over the top-seed Dragons in a tight game at the Cross Insurance Center.

It was revenge for Schenck, who lost to Woodland in the 2018 semifinals. It also removed a monkey from the back of the Wolverines, who failed to get past the semifinals in the past three years.

Travis Thompson led all scorers with 21 points for Schenck. Kaden Hannan had nine points, and Colby Hannan added eight points.

For Woodland, who finishes the season at 17-2, senior Drew Hayward had 16 points. Sabre Lee Phelps added 13 points.

Schenck will play Jonesport-Beals in the Class D North final at 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
