A Midcoast Maine town rightfully landed on a prestigious national list thanks to its hospitality and friendliness.

The popular website Travel Awaits recently published an article titled “The 14 Friendliest Towns in the U.S.,” and one of those communities just so happens to be the coastal gem of Rockland.

The beloved Maine destination joins a distinguished list of towns from across the country, including one other New England representative: Bennington, Vermont.

Rockland, known for its stunning coastal beauty, rich history, incredible food scene, art and maritime museums, and thriving boat charter industry, is a wonderful reflection of what Maine is all about. There’s truly something for everyone, and it all feels authentically Maine.

How Friendly is Maine as a Whole?

Is Rockland friendlier than most places? Maybe. I do think there’s something special about the Midcoast region. It has a laid-back charm, and the locals truly make you feel right at home. And honestly, that goes well beyond just Rockland. Heck, the entire region probably could have made this list.

While Rockland did earn a spot on this prestigious ranking, it wasn’t named the friendliest town overall. That honor went to Concordia, Kansas. Tough to beat that classic Midwestern hospitality, I suppose. Still, I’d say Maine’s version works just fine.
