State Police say a Portland man was critically injured early Tuesday morning in a one car crash on Route 111 in Lyman.

55 year old Douglas Petersen lost control of his car near the intersection of the Old Sawmill Road.  The car left Route 111, skidded a short distance and overturned, coming to rest on its roof, at the intersection.

Petersen was taken to Southern Maine Medical in Biddeford and later transferred to Maine Medical in Portland.  He was headed to work in Sanford  and was alone in the car at the time of the crash.

The Lebanon Fire and Rescue ambulance was returning from another call and came upon the wreck minutes after it happened and administered first aid to Petersen .  The Goodwin Mills Fire Department also responded to the crash site.
