Late Wednesday afternoon, Caribou Police dispatch received multiple 911 calls of a pedestrian accident on South Main Street near Big Cheese Pizza. On arrival, officers found a deceased male in the roadway.

It was reported that the male was crossing Main Street and was struck by a 2002 Buick Century traveling north operated by Sharon McGee of Caribou. The male was then thrown from that vehicle and was struck again in the southbound lane by Lola McBreairty of Caribou operating a 2018 Toyota Camry.

Officer Kegan McPherson is investigating the accident and was assisted by Caribou Fire and Ambulance, Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service and Presque Isle Police Department.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Caribou Police remind people to please use caution walking after dark, use crosswalks, wear light colored clothing and as always, be safe.
