A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 29 years in prison for Murder in Fairfield, Maine.
Pleaded Guilty to Murder
Raheem Goodwin from Benton pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of 62-year-old Edwin Weeks in 2023.
Refusing the Submit to Arrest
He was also charged with Eluding an Officer and Refusing the Submit to Arrest.
Police Chase, Crash and Fire Set in Vehicle
Goodwin led police on a chase before crashing into a ditch and barricading himself inside the vehicle. He then set fire to the inside of the vehicle before he was arrested.
Victim and Man Knew Each Other
Officials said Benton and Weeks knew each other prior to the murder.
Death Ruled a Homicide
Weeks died from “sharp force trauma” and his death was ruled a homicide, according to court records. A friend found his body during a wellness check.
