A 64-year-old Mexican national pleaded guilty to making a false statement to a Border Patrol Agent in Maine.

Illegal Alien Apprehended at Maine Border

Felipe De Jesus Zavala Medel was apprehended in a vehicle after trying to enter the United States from Canada at the Coburn Gore port of entry in January 2025.

Gave Agents False Documents

He gave the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol a North Dakota driver’s license with the name “Johny Joe Olivo,” according to court records. He also claimed he was born in Texas.

Did not have Legal Documents to Enter U.S.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Zavala Medel “admitted that he did not have any documents that allowed him to legally enter, reside, or work in the U.S.”

Facing Five Years in Prison

He faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
