The West District RCMP is investigating a crash that sent a pickup truck into the St. John River near Perth-Andover.

On Wednesday, April 19, around 8:20 a.m., RCMP and Ambulance NB were called to West Riverside Drive in Perth-Andover where a truck had gone into the St. John River. The driver, a 37-year-old man from the Kintore area, managed to escape and was helped to shore by people nearby. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A dog that was also in the truck is missing and is believed to have perished.

Investigators have not yet been able to recover the pickup truck from the river. The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
