Man Died after Crashing into Maine State Police Cruiser in Maine
A 43-year-old man died Wednesday night after crashing into a Maine State Police cruiser parked on the side of the road on Route 180 in Ellsworth.
Man Died after Colliding with State Police Cruiser
Jonathan Wood of Winter Harbor was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:36 pm. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Trooper Treated for Injuries
Trooper Ryan Murry had minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and released.
Man Hit Marked Cruiser in Dirt Turnout
The Maine State Police said Wood was driving south in a Toyota Sienna when lost control, crossed the roadway and drove into a dirt turnout and collided with the cruiser.
Driver Ejected from Vehicle in Rollover Crash
Wood’s van rolled over and he was ejected from the vehicle.
Crash Investigation Ongoing
The crash is under investigation. Assisting on the scene was the Ellsworth Police Department and Ellsworth Fire and Ambulance.
