According to a recent report, compared to other major cities in the country, this city in Maine has the fewest Hispanic-owned businesses.

So, with that in mind, who is analyzing these numbers, what criteria are being considered, and how is this ranking even determined?
WalletHub compared 182 cities across two main categories: ‘Hispanic Business-Friendliness’ and ‘Hispanic Purchasing Power.’ Using 23 weighted metrics scored on a 100-point scale, they calculated each city’s average to create a total score and ranked the cities accordingly for 2025.

Well, having said all that, which city in Maine ranked last in the United States for Hispanic-owned businesses and Hispanic entrepreneurs in 2025?
According to a study by WalletHub highlighting the ‘Best Cities for Hispanic Entrepreneurs in 2025,’ out of 182 cities, Lewiston ranked 164th overall and dead last in terms of its ‘Hispanic Entrepreneurship’ rate.
Portland and Lewiston landed near the bottom of additional rankings, placing 178th and 179th for having the lowest percentage of Hispanic residents.
The report from WalletHub continues by noting that Lewiston also ranked last in the nation for its share of Hispanic-owned businesses.

And there you have it! When compared to other major cities across the country, Lewiston sits near the bottom of this ranking.
