Maine’s Julia Gagnon Does It Again On ‘American Idol’ Last Night
This talented young woman from Cumberland, crushed it for the beginning of "Hollywood Week."
Last night on "American Idol," Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, kicked off "Hollywood Week" with the difficult task of sending 80 singers home. Luckily for all of us here closely following this, Maine's Julia Gagnon, was not one of them.
Julia teamed up with Abi Carter, and Odell Bunton Jr., for a powerful rendition of the 60's classic "California Dreamin'" which seems like the perfect song to sing when you are in Los Angeles for "Hollywood Week" hoping to make the cut.
Shortly after the broadcast aired, Julia took to her Facebook page, thankful to stay at least a few more days in sunny L.A.
Even though today is April Fools Day" tonight is no joke, because the intensity kicks up a notch, for the "Showstopper" edition of "Idol", which will narrow the contestants down, and then the Top 24 will be revealed!
It all started for Julia when she won "Central Maine Idol" last summer. The yearly event is held at The Quarry Tap Room, in Hallowell, and features a $10,000 prize for the winner.

Julia, who is from Cumberland, attends the University of Southern Maine and is just 21 years old. She was born in Guatemala, then moved to the United States. as a child to live with her adoptive family, here in Maine.
