Is Country Music Too Wide Open Today? [POLL]

There's been a decidedly modern turn in country music and country radio lately. Beats, scratching records, rednecks, and pickup trucks litter the airwaves these days. Times change of course. I remember when Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers took flack for their hit 'Islands in the Stream' because it was too pop.

Country music is appealing to a lot younger audience and the industry and its artists seem to be attempting to cater to them. I think that's fine, if the music and the stories are good. That's what country is to me, stories. That being said, country artist Jerrod Niemann seems to be polarizing the audience with his latest song 'Donkey.'
