A 20-year-old Carleton County man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly discharged a firearm at a home north of Woodstock, injuring the homeowner.

Woodstock RCMP were called to a home in Jacksontown around 5 a.m. Sunday following a report of an attempted break and enter.

Police say an altercation took place between the suspect and the home owner, during which time a firearm was discharged and the homeowner sustained minor injuries. The suspect fled the scene on foot. RCMP arrested 20-year-old Jacob Boucher of Beardsley, New Brunswick a short time later.

Boucher appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Monday and was charged with discharging a firearm with intent. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court Wednesday for a show cause hearing.
