On Tuesday the Maine State Housing Authority voted unanimously to allow subsidized housing tenants to continue grown and use medical marijuana in their homes. But is the federal government on board with this decision?

For the next 180 days, subsidized housing tenants can continue to grow their own Mary Jane or at least until the state government can clarify the issue with the federal government. Under federal law using marijuana, whether medical or not is illegal.

The State Housing Authority is worried that allowing subsidized housing tenants to grow their own marijuana is breaking the federal law which can lead to losing federal housing money.
