Game Wardens Believe They Located Body Of Missing Pastor From Caribou
Saturday, Maine game wardens and Caribou Police believe they located the body of missing 82-year-old Caribou resident, Pastor Clement Thibodeau, missing since July 15.
Just before noon Saturday, a man clearing trails near Upper Pistol Lake located Thibodeau’s grey 2013 Chevrolet Equinox stuck near a remote, unimproved road. Upper Pistol Lake is south of Springfield, Maine. The man then called Hancock County Sheriff’s Department who dispatched game wardens to the area.
Soon after their arrival, game wardens located the remains of a human body near the vehicle; they believe the body to be that of Clement Thibodeau. The body will be examined by the Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification which could be as soon as Monday.
Search efforts earlier this summer for Thibodeau included investigating cell phone pings produced by his phone. That information brought searchers near Lee, Maine. Lee is about 12 miles to the northwest of where Thibodeau’s vehicle was found today.
Positive identification information will be released when it becomes available. Thibodeau was a Pastor at Notre Dame Church in Waterville from 1980 to 1987 according to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. At this time, game wardens do not suspect foul play. No further information is available at this time.
